Reading games are an excellent way to review with students on sounds they are learning. These board games with schwa also include closed, multisyllabic words containing schwas.
Words with the schwa sound can be especially difficult. These games are an easy and engaging way to practice!
I will even have the students read the word and take data on their phonemic awareness skills for reading or IEP goal data. It’s a nice, relaxed way to see if they truly understand the concept. My students request these to play these games at least once per week!
