Websites For Teachers

Technology can be a very vital learning tool in the classroom.  Students can be engaged on educational websites to help further his or her learning.   Websites can also help teacher as well!  Take a look at what I have gathered below.  If a link isn’t working or you have suggestion that you use, comment below!  

Bouncy Balls ~ Free

– Grade Levels: All Grade Levels
– Description: Display this website on your active or smart board in your classroom to show the students the classroom noise level. Great visual!

Common Sense Education ~ Free

– Website: commonsense.org
– Grade Levels: All Grade Levels
– Description: Lessons available in all areas that involve technology.

Education World ~ Free

– Website:  educationworld.com
– Grade Levels: K-12th
– Description:  Lots of information!  There are lesson plans, worksheets, printable, and links for technology.

Flippity ~ Free

– Website:  flippity.net
– Grade Levels: All Ability Levels
– Description: Flippity is a free websites with downloadable spreadsheet games for teacher and student use.  Flippity is operated by one teacher who is trying to help out other teachers.  Lots of detailed instructions for how to download and customize.  Most can be tailored to what your classrooms is learning.   I’ve used many of the games on this site!

Go Noodle ~ Free & Paid Versions

– Grade Levels: All Ability Levels
– Description: Go Noodle is a must for any classroom, mainly elementary!   There is a free and paid version.  I have only used the free version.  I believe anyone can sign up, even parents!  This is a great way to get your kids moving when its either too cold or too hot outside.  IT’s AMAZING!  

Mission US ~ Free 

– Website:  mission-us.org
– Grade Levels: 5th – 12th 
– Description: Login is required, but it will not ask for your email. Students will be able to play missions around popular times in history, make decisions, and see the historical outcomes.  Great for 5th grade and above!  There is a student side as well as teacher side with lessons.

Seussville ~ Free

– Grade Levels: Pre-K – 2nd
– Description:  A great resource for teachers as well as parents.  Resource include: activities, crafts, recipes, printables, guides, and themes.  There is also a section for watching and playing interactive Dr. Seuss theme games.

Kennedy Center ~ Free

– Description:

Worth looking at!  There are some amazing lessons and digital resources in the arts! 

Kids Know It ~ Free & Paid Versions

– Website: education.com
– Grade Levels:
– Free and paid versions of the site.  
– Description: The basic site is free for teachers and has printable worksheets and digital learning games.  It looks like the lessons are for the premium side. 

Library of Congress ~ Free

– Website:  loc.gov/education/
– Grade Levels: All Grade Levels
– Description: The Library of Congress offers classroom materials and professional development to help teachers effectively use primary sources from the Library’s vast digital collections in their teaching.

Mystery Doug ~ Free

– Website:  mysterydoug.com
– Grade Levels: All Ability Levels, but mainly geared towards elementary and middle school
– Description:  Educators can search past lessons, but anyone can receive an email on this week’s video and vote for next week or submit questions.  The weekly questions are amazing and wonderful explanations for kids!  My daughter loves to see what the questions are each week!

Pinterest ~ Free

– Grade Levels: All Levels & Areas
– Description: Pinterest has been around a long time, but worth mentioning if you haven’t run across it yet.  It is a free, amazing website where you can search any topic and save ideas to your own board.  Amazing resource!

Quizlet ~ Free

– Description: Quizlet is a website in which you can create your own tools for your own learning and studying.  Many have been created already, just search.

Science Bob ~ Free

– Description: All Things Science!

Slides ~ Free

– Description: Free Powerpoint or Google Slides to use.  I use Slides Mania education planner at the base for my teacher planner.  I just create and upload my own weekly planner customized to my needs.  Easy to link anything that you might need.

Smart Exchange ~ Free

– Description: Created by teachers for teachers, Smart Exchange has a variety of SMART Notebook free downloadable classroom resources! 

The Word Search ~ Free

– Website: thewordsearch.com
– Grade Levels: All Ability Levels 
– Description:  This is a fanatic website to make digital (and print) word searches.  There are lot of websites out there that are similar, but this is also digital.  Word Searches are a great way to promote reading and spelling of concepts you are already practicing. 

Steve Spangler Science ~ Free

– Description:

An amazing resource for teachers and parents for those looking for science experiments!

Magic Tree House ~ Free

– Website: magictreehouse.com
– Grade Levels: elementary

– Description:

Students will play games or go on missions with some of your favorite characters from the books.  It will ask for a log-in or you can skip.   There is also a section for parents and teachers with more information.

Gimkit ~ Free & Paid Versions

– Website:  gimkit.com
– Grade Levels: 3rd – 12th
– Description:  Similar to Kahoot.  Students will answer questions on a digital device that on a variety of content areas.  It can be played as a whole class as well as individually.  I haven’t used this but it looks really fun and engaging.

BrainPop ~ Paid Resource

– Website:  BrainPop.com
– Grade Levels: All Grade Levels
– Description:  Teachers can show videos in an animated like format in all topics and content areas.  I have found that most schools or districts will have a subscription, so something to check out.  At the elementary level, kids love BrainPop!

TPT ~ Free and Paid Resources

– Grade Levels: All Grade Levels
– Resources available for free and paid. 
– Description: Created by teachers for teachers.  Some are free and others are for purchase.  After a purchase, make sure to make review to earn credit for future purchases

Teacherflix ~ Free

  • Description: Free online platform for educational videos and virtual field trips.

PlaySpent ~ Free

  • Description: A web-based simulation game designed to educate players about the stark realities of poverty and homelessness. The game challenges players to survive for one month on a budget of just $1,000 after losing their job and home.

Headspace ~ Free for Educators

  • Description: Offers a free subscription to educators and has a library of mindfulness tools to help students in the classroom

Classroom Zen ~ Free

  • Description: A free, web-based digital tool designed to help teachers manage noise levels and create a calm, focused environment in elementary and middle school classrooms.

Classroom Screen ~ Free & Paid

  • Description:
    A web based digital display tool and online white board designed for teachers to manage classroom and engage students. You can project it onto a smartboard or interactive display to show instructions, track time, and run activities all from one central screen.
